From Chief GreyEagle (family name Darryl Brown): I am a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma! I live on our grandfathers last of his allotted land when it was Indian Territory before Statehood! It’s our ceremonial grounds also. I was born and raised in this tribal district and Choctaw County of SE Oklahoma. I began this ceremonial way of life once my grandfather crossed over in late 80s. My powerful dreams finally woke me up to the sacred lodges and I started Sundancing with our Dakota relatives on the Yankton Reservation in South Dakota in 1996. We received from them a sacred bundle and the elders up north instructed that we would start the Sundance Ceremonies here, and our first one was 1997 in Tvshka, Ok area, (Tvshka in Choctaw means Warrior) and then it moved in 1998 to my grandfather’s land where we’ve been since! I am the caretaker of the Star Medicine Stone, also ancient Counseling Hatchet Stone, along with other various stones that found me along my earth walk that we use in all our ceremonies! I started working for my Choctaw nation and people in 1997 till present dates.

Tom Johnson, owner of The House of Phacops, began researching the Isotelus Trilobite, Official State Fossil of Ohio, in 1985. The largest known example of the State fossil is on exhibit at his shop. Built on the foundation of a tannery that operated in Locust Grove around 1850, the building is clad with Ordovician flat rock quarried in Adams County. The Ordovician seabed, dating back 438 million years, attracted Johnson to Adams County because the ancient seabed contains the finest known examples of the Isotelus Trilobite.
Collected a lot around Sylvania, Ohio in an old 350 million year old sea bed 90 feet under ground through the 60's and 70's until the government stopped that activity with MSHA and OSHA 1979, He then moved to southern Ohio and began collecting an even older sea bed of 438 million. Many trips around the planet to collect and study fossils dating back to 2,7 billion years, recognized for his achievements in 1984 by the Smithsonian and National Geographic, he has written 3 books and lectured on the subject of trilobites.

THOMAS JOHNSON THUNDER ROCK OF THE STARS ROSWELL NEW MEXICO CONNECTION

As a Young man Thomas Johnsonand His family would Travel from Detroit to Roswell New Mexico at least once a year Thomas Johnson's Uncle Art Brosius would take him and Aunt Eva to the Bottomless Lakes,Ruidoso Cloud Croft, White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Leadville Colorado, Karnie Nebraska and many other places to fish or explore. The late Arthur Brosius, a Provost Sergeant with the 340th Military Police Escort Corps, was involved in getting the base operational, starting September 5, 1942. A interviewed Mr. Brosius about 25 years ago. Probably the definitive source on the history of the New Mexico camps Some 19 companies of guards were brought in to escort the prisoners in and out of camp. Brosius was at the camp the entire time it was in operation; he later was a WELL KNOWN SECURITY CHIEF at New Mexico Military Institute for many years And Yes during the Roswell crash.

Thomas Johnson Thunder Rock was later drafted and was Stationed at Fort Bliss El Paso, Air Defense Command as a fire control operator, they would do military exercises at McGregor range, White Sands as well as many places he went with uncle Art as a boy.

He then settled in Ohio, One year in the 80's Thomas was contacted by the Reagan administration to work on Star Wars because of his knowledge on the Phacops A trilobites ostensibly possessed a unique and highly advanced visual system. The eyes of vertebrates and human eyes have organic lenses using muscles to alter lens curvature and thus focal length. Though we have no knowledge of the soft-tissue components of the trilobite’s visual systems, we do know that the lenses of the eyes of living trilobites were unique, being comprised of inorganic calcite, or as Levi-Setti (1995) calls them, "Crystal Eyes". There is no other known occurrence of calcite eyes in the fossil record. This composition has also enabled the trilobite eyes to survive as exquisite fossils dating back to the earliest Cambrian. The earliest trilobite eyes were, like modern arthropods, compound eyes, comprised of repeating units, called ommatidia, each of which functioned as a separate visual receptor. If trilobite eyes were like modern arthropods, each ommatidium had a lens (the front surface of which makes up a single facet); a transparent crystalline cone; and light-sensitive visual cells. Each ommatidium was pointed at just a single area in space and contributed information only about that space. Typically, thousands of ommatidia in a compound eye are spread over most of a hemisphere, the composite of all responses of which is a mosaic image of dots, with more dots giving higher resolution of the image Needless to say he did not answer their call.

Wayne William Snellgrove is a prominent Indigenous author, artist, meditation guide, and spiritual teacher of Saulteaux heritage from the Fishing Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan, Canada. His life journey encompasses survival, reconnection, empowerment, and service to his people and beyond.

Early Life & Reconnection

Born into the Saulteaux First Nation, Snellgrove was taken from his family as part of Canada’s “Sixties Scoop”—a period when Indigenous children were forcibly removed from their communities and placed in non-Indigenous adoptive families without consent. He was adopted into a white middle-class family in New England, USA .

Despite being raised in a loving environment, Snellgrove struggled with identity, belonging, and trauma. These challenges were compounded by being visibly Native in predominantly white settings and dealing with early life threatening medical and social battles .

Driven by a longing to reconnect, Snellgrove eventually located his birth mother, Nora Smoke, and reunited with her after 32 years—a profoundly emotional reconciliation that set him on a path of healing and cultural reconnection .

Athletic Achievements

Snellgrove discovered an impressive talent for swimming—his height, wingspan, and determination made him a standout athlete.

He became the only Native American to earn the title of USA Swimming National Champion, specializing in open-water events (5 km, 10 km, 25 km), and representing the United States internationally .

A shoulder injury ended his competitive career, but he later found success in marathon swimming and lifeguard work, including serving with the Hollywood, Florida Beach Patrol .

Cultural and Spiritual Leadership

Following the emotional reunion with his birth mother—and the loss of his adoptive mother—Snellgrove embarked on what he calls his “Red Road journey”—a healing path rooted in forgiveness, spirituality, and reconnection with his heritage .

He now teaches Indigenous spirituality, leads ceremonies (such as inipi sweat lodges), and works with Native inmates in Florida prisons in partnership with medicine man Tony Stonehawk .

Authorship & Creative Work

Snellgrove is an accomplished author and artist. His best-selling book, Daily Medicine, offers 366 meditations inspired by Indigenous healing and spirituality—quickly rising to prominence as a leading new release in Native American religion on Amazon .

His Goodreads profile lists seven published books, including titles such as Whispers from the Hollow Bone, Leçons tirées des cendres, and Rumors of Beauty and New Beginnings—each weaving spiritual reflections with Indigenous teachings .

More recently, Rumors of Beauty and New Beginnings (to be published in mid-2025) continues this tradition, offering meditations that guide readers toward peace, ancestral wisdom, and deep connection with community and nature .

Drumming Baba Jubal Harris
Is a percussionist, drum maker, storyteller and teaching artist. My goal is to engage students and teachers in an artistic process that integrates the traditional arts with the core academic curriculum. During a recent Ohio Arts Council (OAC) Arts Learning residency at the Ohio School for the Blind, band and choir students in grades K-12 learned to play and sing African polyrhythms. History, geography, science, math and culinary arts were also integrated into their classroom curriculum. During another OAC residency at the Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center, fifth-grade students made drums and learned to perform as an ensemble that included, piano, Orff xylophone, vocals and percussion. I am a pioneer of African Centered Arts integration in American schools and my methodology allows collaboration to develop experiences that meet the Ohio Fine Arts Academic Content Standards for music grades K-12.This multiple intelligence approach is holistic and supports student creativity and achievement. Above all, my love of life and joy of sharing my many creative talents inspires students to learn.
I am a socially responsible artist rooted in the realization that life is a precious gift to be enjoyed and shared with reverence and respect. I strive to reflect the beauty and simplicity of nature in my art and music. My approach is harmonic and holistic. I dramatize African folktales because they are entertaining and, most importantly, they impart wisdom. My musical style employs the instruments of the full African orchestra, the song of the lead singer and chorus, hand clapping and dance that recreates a dramatic and mystical ritual saga. I make drums that are traditional and contemporary in style and construction technique. They are functional works of art. I currently perform with internationally acclaimed Kora player Alhaji Papa Susso from The Gambia, West Africa. I also perform with my ensemble "One World Rhythm" which includes musicians from West Africa, the Caribbean and the United States.
